Ingredients

  • 10 ounces pasta
  • 5 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 cups freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 pound shrimp peeled and deveined, tails optional
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley

How to make Shrimp Alfredo Pasta

  • Firstly, cook the pasta as per the instructions written on the package. Drain and keep aside.
  • Take a small bowl and grate the cheese in it over low heat. Keep it aside and allow the cheese to cool.
  • Take a large saucepan and cook the butter until melted.
  • Now, add the garlic stirring continuously for 1 minute.
  • Add the cream in it and whisk together to combine well.
  • Bring it to a simmer and cook again for 3-4 minutes, stirring continuously.
  • Now, add the parmesan cheese turning the heat to low. Season the mixture with salt and pepper.
  • Add the pasta and toss with the sauce.
  • Now put the salt and pepper on the shrimp.
  • In a large saucepan, melt the butter or oil over medium heat.
  • Add shrimp to the skillet and cook for about 2-3 minutes until pink and opaque.
  • Serve the pasta with a scoop of shrimp on top.
  • If desired, sprinkle the fresh parsley on the pasta.
  • Serve hot.

Recipe Notes

  • Parmesan Cheese: Pre-shredded parmesan should not be used since it won’t melt as well or taste as wonderful as freshly grated.
  • Healthier Alfredo sauce: The sauce won’t be as creamy if you substitute milk or half-and-half, so you could wish to thicken it with a cornflour slurry. Instead, try the One-Pan Skinny Chicken Alfredo.
  • Seafood Alfredo: This seafood Alfredo will taste amazing with seared scallops added!
  • Chicken and Shrimp Alfredo: Add some grilled chicken to the Alfredo sauce with chicken and shrimp!
  • Broccoli and shrimp Alfredo: Add steamed broccoli or your favourite vegetable before serving.
  • Cajun Shrimp Alfredo: Before cooking, season shrimp with cajun spice. If you don’t want your Alfredo sauce to be hot, use less cayenne pepper—1 teaspoon is OK.
