Baked Eggs

Eggs are a classic breakfast and brunch option, but they don’t have to be eaten quite as often. That’s where these oven-baked eggs come in! They’re easy to make and delicious enough that you’ll want them for every meal. Serve as an entree with some potatoes and veggies or on its own with toast or something else simple like fruit. Either way, these will become favorites for you and your family!

What you’ll need:

  • 4 Tbsp. unsalted butter
  • 8 large eggs (or as many as you like)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Garnishes like fresh herbs, sliced tomatoes, feta cheese, sautéed mushrooms or onions, crumbled bacon or sausage, roasted red peppers, or hot sauce (optional)

How to make baked eggs for brunch?

The process is simple:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F. Divide the butter equally into 4 small ramekins or ceramic dishes. Place the dishes on a baking sheet and bake for 3 minutes.

  • You can also make this dish in advance, refrigerate it overnight, then bake it when you’re ready to eat!
  • Crack two eggs into each ramekin and season with salt and pepper. Bake for 8-10 minutes depending on how you want your eggs done. We recommend 10 minutes for completely set yolks and whites with no clear liquid remaining. If you like your yolks runny, bake for 6 to 8 minutes.

Serve immediately with any garnishes of your choice! There are lots of options! Try crumbled bacon or sausage, roasted red peppers, diced tomatoes, crumbled feta cheese, or diced chives or parsley over the top! Or make it a Mexican-style baked egg by serving with avocado slices (sliced), salsa verde (tomatillo sauce), and tortilla chips

Salt and Pepper to Taste

I like to use plenty of salt, but if you don’t have any sea salt on hand then just use regular table salt. As for the pepper, my preference is freshly ground black pepper over cayenne powder or dried chili flakes. Which can be too spicy for some people.

Garnishes like fresh herbs, sliced tomatoes, feta cheese, sautéed mushrooms or onions, crumbled bacon or sausage and roasted red peppers are all great additions to this brunch staple. If you’re feeling extra creative (and have some time) you could even make an omelet out of them!

Eggs

Measure the eggs. You should measure them by placing them in a large Pyrex measuring cup and filling it with water until they’re submerged. Then, use a knife or fork to crack each egg into its own bowl, being careful not to break the yolk.

Baked eggs are a great way to serve eggs to a crowd at breakfast or brunch quickly! They’re easy to make and can be served with garnishes like fresh herbs and veggies. They’re also an easy way to use up leftover ingredients in your refrigerator—like sliced tomatoes, leftover ham sandwiches, or even some cheese left over from last night’s dinner party!

Baked eggs are also healthy because they avoid the use of mayonnaise or other unhealthy fats when making them at home.

Tips to follow while making Baked Eggs.

You can make these baked eggs any time of day, but they’re especially delicious for brunch.

  • Use a nonstick pan to make baked eggs. A glass or ceramic pan will be too slick for the eggs, which will stick and break as you try to flip them.
  • Nonstick pans are easy to clean and last longer than other types of cookware, so they’re great if you want to make this dish often! Just make sure not to use too much butter in your recipe; otherwise, your dish may become greasy instead of crispy on top!

Conclusion

Baked eggs are a great way to serve eggs to a crowd at breakfast or brunch quickly! They can be made ahead of time and reheated in the oven, so you don’t have to worry about making sure everyone gets their fix.

Don’t forget to add garnishes like fresh herbs, sliced tomatoes, feta cheese or sautéed mushrooms or onions, crumbled bacon or sausage, roasted red peppers, or hot sauce (optional).
