  • All-purpose flour – two & half cup
  • Granulated sugar – half cup

  • Unsulphered molasses – half cup
  • Baking soda – half teaspoons
  • Ground ginger – one teaspoon
  • Ground cloves – half teaspoon

  • Hot water – one cup
  • Fresh whipped cream and bananas for topping

For Vanilla Cream Sauce

  • Granulated sugar – half cup
  • Butter (1 stick) – half cup
  • Whipped cream (heavy) – one cup
  • Vanilla extract – two teaspoons

Preparation Method

Step – 1

In a medium bowl, mix butter and sugar and cream them together until they become smooth. Stir well so that butter and sugar combine well to give a light batter. Next, add egg and the molasses in this mixture and again properly mix them.

Add baking soda to the next step and mix it well. The baking soda will react with the molasses to create carbon dioxide. This is what forms the structure of your mixtures. This step is essential as it will ensure that your cake will hold its shape and is simply not crumbling own on its own,

Step – 3

Now, take all the dry ingredients in a separate bowl and mix them. After mixing, add these dry ingredients to the batter prepared in the earlier step and mix them well. Now slowly add hot water to this mixture and stir well until the batter becomes thin. Stir together as best you can. Using your hands, fold the batter over itself until no dry bits remain (they should be completely combined).

Step – 4

Now take a 9″ x 13″ pan and pour the mixture into it. Using a spatula, evenly spread this mixture in the pan. Set the oven to preheat for around two to three minutes. Now bake this mixture in an oven for around 30 to 35 minutes.

Once baked, take out the tray carefully and check whether the cake is baked perfectly. After baking, let this mixture cool for around 20 minutes before the step. To check whether the baking is done or not, take a toothpick and poke a small hole in the center of the cake. If it comes out clean, it is perfect to eat. If the hole is not clean, bake the cake again and try again.

Instruction To Make Vanilla Cream Sauce

Since your gingerbread cake is ready, now it’s time to make a vanilla cream sauce for your cake.

  • In a saucepan, add butter and sugar and cook them in it. Stir well so that the butter is melted properly. Once the butter is melted, add heavy whipped cream to it and let it simmer for some time for better results.
  • If you are using fresh cream, let it simmer for around 10 minutes to get better results. After this, add vanilla extract and let it simmer for not more than 8 minutes so that your sauce does not get burnt.
  • Take a far dish and pour your sauce over the cake in the tray. Spread this mixture evenly over the cake using a spatula or spoon. Cover the pan with aluminum foil and let it sit for around 1 hour. After this time, uncover the tray and use the knife to smooth the top of this cake.

Now fill your whipped cream and place it on top of your sauce. If you use fresh cream, let your cake sit overnight in the refrigerator. Once cooled, cut into thick slices and serve them to your family members. Enjoy making this recipe with family or friends!
