Green burgers recipe

Looking for a delicious burger recipe, look no further than the Green burger recipe which is healthy as well as tasty. Served them slathered in lemon juice and capers, with a drizzle of olive oil and topped with baby spinach leaves. If you’re interested in learning how to make these green burgers at home, then you’ve come to the right place.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 250g bag spinach
  • 5 slices of white bread, blitzed into breadcrumbs (or 150g dried breadcrumbs)
  • 1-2 large eggs, beaten

How to make it?

Make healthy green burgers step by step using the recipe below.

STEP 1

Before you begin cooking the onions, make sure that your pan is hot. This will help them to caramelize and lose their raw taste. Once the pan is hot, add a tablespoon of oil to it, and then add your chopped onion. Do not add the oil or any other ingredients at this point! You want all of those flavors to be added in at once so that they taste great together as opposed to separately or individually (which would result in an unpleasant combination).

After adding your chopped onion, allow it to cook for about five minutes before stirring frequently with a wooden spoon so that it doesn’t burn on one side while leaving other parts untouched by flame retardant chemicals like BPA (Bisphenol A). Once done cooking thoroughly but still tender enough for eating without being mushy like an overcooked meatloaf before serving.

STEP 2

  • Add the spinach and cook for 2 mins until wilted.
  • Add the garlic and cook for 1 min.
  • Remove from the heat and leave to cool.
  • Add the spinach to the cooled onions.

STEP 3

After adding the spinach, add the egg, mix well then leave to cool a little.

Next add your cheese, seasoning, and breadcrumbs then mix well.

Finally, after adding the spinach, garlic, egg, and breadcrumbs to your mixture. Season well then mix everything together until well combined.

STEP 4

  • Now make into four burgers and cook in the remaining oil for about 4 mins on each side (or until golden).
  • Cook the burgers for about 5-7 minutes, until they are fully cooked. You can check that by using a fork or a knife to wiggle around in the middle of each burger. If you hear a snap and it feels soft, then your meat has reached the right temperature.
  • If you want your burgers to be extra juicy and tender, cook them over medium-high heat instead of turning down the heat after cooking them on high heat (which will lead to dryness). This way they’ll still get pink in spots but won’t fall apart when you cut into one!
  • Check if your burgers are undercooked by checking if they’re all mushy rather than chewy, if it is then nobody is going to like them.

You can fit a lot of veg into these burgers.

You can fit a lot of veg into these burgers. Try using fresh spinach and herbs, or frozen spinach and herbs—it’s a great way to keep your food costs down while still getting all the benefits. You could also try adding some veg like beans, tofu, or yogurt if you want to make this recipe more meal-like in terms of protein content.

What to serve?

  • 6 crusty bread rolls
  • 4 ripe, juicy tomatoes, thickly sliced
  • good-quality ketchup
  • sweet potato fries (optional)

Conclusion

The key is to use as many different vegetables in your burger as you can so that it tastes like more than just a bunch of veg. You can also add some herbs and spices if you have them lying around. Try this Green burger recipe and let us know in the comments how is it?
